Nonsuch Folk Club

Dear friends of the Nonsuch Folk Club.

It’s been a long time since we have been in touch but we hope you are all well and have been learning lots of new songs.

Your committee, Ian, Rosie, Lyn, Steve and Nigel, kept in regular email contact during the Covid lock-down period. Following the easing of lock-down we were able to hold our first proper meeting since February on the 5th August. This took the form of an outdoor pub lunch where we were able to discuss possible ways of restarting club activities. We are, of course, entirely dependent on the Bishops Waltham Social Club reopening and the current information is that this may possibly happen in September or October.

Rosie Johnson, our secretary, has prepared an outline proposal for the resumption of our activities that starts with us reviewing the Bishops Waltham Social Club risk assessment to see how we can satisfy their Covid safety requirements. The restriction on public singing will, I think, be our major difficulty and we have some ideas that may help us deal with this. We are hopeful however that we will be able to hold limited meetings before long depending on social distancing recommendations and  practicality.

Our priority of course will always be to keep our members and visitors safe. We will be back in touch soon please refer to the website for further updates. In the meantime keep up your practice in anticipation of better times to come.

Best wishes

Ian Reed
